Mandi: This is our lovely hotel room. Don't stay at the Clarion Bay View. Well, I guess it was OK. It's the cheapest and almost closest hotel to the convention center, as the photo below shows. But if you like nice hotel rooms, this hotel didn't deliver. Everything was tacky and uncomfortable. Next year, I think I'll pick a different hotel.
Jenny: Yeah, the Bay View is negligible. I think the best part is that it's close to the convention center. That's pretty much the whole reason to go there. And for it being so cheap, and so close, I think you get what you pay for. I'd still stay there again.. Not luxurious, but I'd spend the extra money on art or books or food or something. I mean, I'm such a miser that we stayed at our apartment 30 miles away for this year's con. Made our nightlife suck ass.
Mandi: The view from our room. That poorly spliced photo is of the convention center. Like I said, the hotel is close to the con. It's also close to the Gaslamp Quarter and a trolley station.
Jenny: yep. it is.
Mandi: This is Sean's picture. Better, huh? San Diego is very pretty. The area you spend most time in during the con is just a small section of downtown. It's flanked by San Diego Bay. There are shops and restaurants all over. I can't stress enough how much of a wonderful vacation the SDCC is.
Jenny: It's so great of a vacation that I moved here. 'nuff said.
Mandi: Look here! In the lower right corner is the Gaslamp Quarter Trolley station. That means right next to it is The Tin Fish. If you like fish, eat here. We went twice. They have great halibut, salmon and other fishies. If the weather's nice, you can eat outside--something wondrous to a midwesterner like me. Here in Indiana it's either too hot and humid or too cold to eat outside. In San Diego, it's lovely. And if it gets a bit chilly at night, they have big patio heaters that warm the area. It's so cool.
Jenny: Yeah, I can't get over how much is outside here. I also forget how nice it is outside, since I work for an HVAC company. It's like they want to wow you with how great our air conditioning is. It's so frikkin' cold there. I wear long sleeve shirts every day.
